obama care media blitz does continue and today president obama will focus his message on the laws and the benefits for people with pre-existing medical conditions. this as the white house announces some 56,000 people and their successful enrollment in coverage during exchanges. that's more than double the enrollees for the entire month of october and all of this as the administration ramps up, too, december 23rd and the enrollment deadline for january 1st coverage, jim mcdermott, senior member of the house, ways and means committee. >> as we look back at the calendar, it was two weeks ago when they assembled this team, the senate and house strike teams and what was their task versus the daily barrage of messages that we'll see on tap from the white house. can you explain the difference? >> it looks to me like it's all one plan because you really have to keep pushing and letting people know and try and build momentum in the public the real problem here is public education, if you have never had health insurance before, you don't know how it works and you've never applied for it and

the official restart of the obama care era and the day the window finally closed for good for republicans trying to kill the thing. from the day obama was elected president, republicans have been determined to block health care reform. they got scott brown elected. they took the law all the way to the supreme court, voted dozens of times to defund or repeal it, shut down the government for 16 days, and obama care survived all of it. irony is that while republicans couldn't kill obama care, the administration almost could. >> good evening. president obama now finds himself compared to president george w. bush, as in the problems with the health care plan have become president obama's katrina. >> but today, the website is now fixed enough that it looks like obama care is really here to stay. the repeal strategy is dead and obama care is out of the icu. according to the administration, the error message rate for the front end of the website is less than 1%. that's down from about 6% last month. the site can now handle 50,000 users at a time, 800,000 per day. keep in mind, at one point, the s

there is still no system yet for moving the money from the obama care customers to the insurance companies. the subsidies that the government promised the insurance companies it would give them in order to give you know, coverage to these millions of americans, great, a promise. but unfortunately there was no way to cut the check. that part of it that provides for payment, not built yet. and for days, many journalists have been demanding answers of this administration, wanting to know, you're touting this improved healthcare.gov. how does the system work without a payment mechanism? there is no cash register. what would make the insurance companies actually provide coverage when they haven't been paid? we reported this to you last night. without a way to get payment to those companies how are people going to actually get coverage? so now tonight, at 8:00 p.m., get a report with an answer from reuters news. the administration is going to let the insurance companies estimate what they should get. and then the feds are going to cut them a big check and figure out later what the real amounts a

to get to including the obama care website up and running a lot better than it used to be. first stretches of new york's commuter rail line are closed this morning after a deadly train crash over the weekend. four people were killed. more than 60 injured. 11 in critical condition. early morning metro north commuter train traveling south from poughkeepsie to grand central station derailed in the bronx. 100 people were on the seven cars which came to a violent stop just short of a nearby river. the train was only about 12 miles away from its destination and many were dozing off when the cars tumbled off tracks. tom costello joins us live from the scene. is there any indication about the issue of speed playing a role in the crash? >> reporter: that's the big question this morning, mika, because most of the passengers who were on said this train of traveling at a very high clip and the governor said he thinks speed was a factor and the engineer has told several people he tried to apply the brakes but they didn't work. that's the train behind me. there are four cars there. you can see

obama care was signed into law over three years ago. we should note that the white house is taking issue with this article. jay carney saying that the report's misleading and based on a ridiculously false premise, those are his words. david gergen, what do you think about this? >> i think this is a bigger deal, and i don't think this is simply sloppiness on the part of the white house. i disagree with the professor. what seems to me is there's a case of near malfeasance here. at the same time three years pass with no one-on-one meetings according to this politico article. the president had 277 one-on-one meetings with other members of his cabinet, hillary clinton having the largest number, but secretary geithner had some 27 meetings. i know the economy is essential, and it's good he was meeting with secretary geithner, but here on his signature issue not to take charge. and i have no doubt the white house is right, that secretary sebelius was in several group meetings with the president about health care, but the whole point is, there was nobody in charge in the administration. the presi
